Default Free Technical Analysis Software - Chart Nexus

I found this free technical analysis software.

Chart Nexus.

It has limited features, but is good for beginners.

The interface is good too.

Do check it out and if you have doubts, post here....

I did some analysis of it in March when I was searching for a good software

ChartNexus
- Data is without stock split and companies "name" changes adjusted.
- Index analysis with Volume not possible.

Data issues make it useless.

I guess I missed your post on Chart Nexus.

What does it mean - "companies name changes adjusted"?

From recent Examples:
Data will not be aligned for "Rel Energy" named changed to "Reliance Infra", which means both will trade as diff symbols and also you cannot manually merge them.

I don't know if they have improved their data consistency in 2 months down the line.

I downloaded the data.

I see Reliance Energy data, but nothing like Reliance Infrastructure.

Maybe the are continuing with the old symbol.

or

are you saying that now (after the data is already downloaded), if any company name changes, I will end up with two different charts?

rgds,
Sorry. No.

It provides only EOD (End-of-day) data.

I doubt any software/site will provide you free real-time data.

This is because EOD data needs to be updated only once-a-day.

On the other hand, real-time data is updated every second.

The resources required to provide real-time data are much greater than those required for EOD data.

Only source of real-time data that I know, are the various brokerage houses.

Brokerages provide data to their clients. The costs get covered by the brokerage.

what was the exact problem?

=================================

you will first have to download the historical data and then update it daily.

for downloading the data:

view > system settings > data.

select all the markets that you want the data for.

then you will be taken to the "Market Data Downloader"

select the markets and press "Install Selected"

Chart Nexus is new for me too....

Actually, I use Metastock for charting.

I have lot of data for Metastock, but it isn't possible to use that data with Chart Nexus.

Today when I downloaded chart nexus data, it's not good. most of the stocks have just a single line for price (same opening and closing, no up-down fluctuations) and volume is completely missing.
Example: Cairn India@257.2, Suzlon@126.4.

Usually I download very late (say 10PM IST), today I downloaded early (6pm IST).

I want to check with guys who use Chart Nexus, if you have the same issue today ?

I checked my data.

My data seems alright.

Data for Cairn/Suzlon is correct too.

(I checked both NSE and BSE data).

Good pointer.
I re-checked, my BSE data is okay and only NSE data has this issue. I hope if it gets fixed along with today's data. Or else I will check with the product team if there is any way to manually invoke refresh for a particular day.

I got the latest data for today but yesterday's data are still bad. I deleted the NSE/2009 folder and re-installed the data as suggested in their site but the issue persists. I really wonder how some people like you have got the correct data !

I checked the NSE/2009 folder when zippped comes close to 2MB, will it be possible for you to send me that ?

thanks !

Question Need some info on Chart Nexus

Guys I have couple of questions about Chart Nexus... thanks ahead for your replies;

1. As I update EOD date, does the data for 1st day is erased? I mean if I continue downloading data every day for one year... at the end of it will I have data for four years or it will be still be only for three years only (that we get when we download chart nexus)

2. Is there any possibility of getting this data for earlier period in a form which is compatible with chart nexus?

Please help.

Sorry, ChartNexus does not provide free intraday data or free derivatives data.

I don't have access to my ChartNexus data right now, but if you select NSE and then select "Indices", you should be able to see Nifty chart.

Does Chart Nexus include tools to perform Analysis or it just provides Data and Presentation Tools?

Where do you find tools to Analyze the Data ?

I guess you are asking about "screening tools".

Unfortunately, ChartNexus doesn't offer screening tools for free.
