Default RIL Wants To Offer Free Voice Calls

Mukesh Ambani has claimed Reliance JIO will offer free voice calls "forever".

I am not sure if that is legally possible, but if that is the case, we will see a major shake-up in the telecom sector.

Legally it can be tweaked, offer wordings may need to be changed.
e.g. Airtel - With a broad plan one can make unlimited free call at a top up of INR 99. If airtel has this plan, Jio too can have.
[Yes Airtel's is landline and Jio's is mobile but still why discriminate ]

Reliance - Earlier had some plan (I guess 500 pm not sure, don't remember) on which unlimited calls to its own network were free.

Call ending charges that jio needs to pay I guess would be 15 paise per minute,
How much can one talk daily on mobile ?
2hrs / 120 mins ? INR 18 per day so for 30 days it will be INR 540
assuming all calls are to other network

Do-able if Jio wants to mess with other operators.

Reliance's plans are for users that use a lot of data.

There is just one plan below Rs 500 which offers 300 MB for Rs 149.

It seems RIL wants only "HNI" customers and is not interested in users that spend less than Rs 150 per month on telecom services.

HNI's don't have time to see videos/movies or chat for hours...

Today even a kaamwali bai /dhobi spends more than 150 on recharge....so
Rs 149 plan is for very rural areas...to talk or give missed calls to their children in towns/cities r to receive messages of pension/mnrega payments etc...

The plans are well drafted...and cream target is the college youth i.e all people in 15-35 age group...that the maxm concentration of india's population

Jio's technology is different..so everything is data....it is definitely a game changer else idea/airtel etc would not have started reducing rates...

Jio is breaking the "cartelization" of Idea/Airtel etc...also it has deep pockets to sustain and survive...and outdo the competition.

It's a great move...and will benefit all..

Sell your shares in Airtel and Idea...

Rcom may be the first casualty of the war in the telecom sector.

It is already facing a cash flow crisis.

Quote:
The company has also not been making payments to vendors and other telecom companies on time.

Vendors claim that RCom has not been paying interconnect usage charges to some of them for more than two months. Tower companies claim that payments have been patchy and delayed through 2017 and new payment terms have been sought by the company, which would include an interest component if the delay persists.
RCom retrenches employees, delays payments: Sources - Moneycontrol.com

If things turn really bad and the stock falls sharply in next few weeks, I will buy a few shares.

The conditions are perfect for a takeover or a merger.
