One day "alternative energy" will replace "conventional energy", but the problem is that nobody really knows when that will happen.
It may happen in 10 years or it may take 50 years.
Today, most alternative energy sources are costlier than conventional energy sources.
If a level playing field is provided i.e. if taxes/duties on conventional energy sources are removed and subsidies given to alternative energy sources are withdrawn, no one will use alternative energy sources.
Unless conventional energy becomes too expensive to use, I don't see much hope for alternative energy.
---------------------------------
There are lot of alternative energy companies listed in the Indian stock markets, but not all companies are trustworthy.
Some of them are:
Suzlon (Wind Energy).
Indowind Energy (Wind Energy).
NEPC India (Wind Energy).
XL Energy (Solar Energy).
Moser Baer (Solar Energy).
Euro Multivison (Solar Energy).
Indosolar (Solar Energy).
Websol Energy Systems (Solar Energy).
Surana Ventures (Solar Energy).
Praj Industries (Biofuels).
Orient Green Power (Diversified).
Entegra (Diversified).
