I wanted to know from where I can get details like of a stock:

Number of stocks available in public domain for share trading. We see crore of shares of Cals Refineries being traded daily whereas in some cases in some place only 3000-4000 stock trade makes a share to hit circuit.

You can find data on NSE's site.

Just check the latest shareholding pattern.

The shareholding pattern clearly mentions the number of shares held by the promoters and the number of shares held by the public.

The shares held by the public are usually considered the "floating stock".
