Default How/Where to Find EPS of Nifty and Sensex

Sensex is made up of 30 stocks.

Get the individual EPS of each company. (This EPS must be taken on a pro-rata basis depending on the availability of the free float for calculating the BSE Sensex EPS. i.e non-promoter holding).
Now multiply the EPS by the adjustment factor reported by the company (For eg. if Adjustment Factor is 0.70 i.e., 70% of the particular company's stocks are free floating (non-promoter stocks).

If company A's EPS is Rs.50 then, multiply this 50 with 0.70 which is 35. So Company A's contiribution towards Sensex EPS is 35. Similarly calculate for all 30 companies.

If I am wrong please correct me.

In the NSE Site go to Indices > Statistics > P/E, P/B & Div Yield values

Select Index as S&P CNX Nifty

From Date and To Date as requied. You will get the P/E for NIFTY ( Col A in Excel)

Again go to Equity > Historical Data > Indices Data

Select Index as S&P CNX Nifty

From Date and To Date as requied. You will get the Closing Price for NIFTY (Col B in Excel )

EPS = Closing Price/ P/E i.e. Col B/ Col A in Excel.

Similarly go to the BSE Site Indices > Historical Data and obtain the Closing price and P/E

You can similarly calculate the EPS (TTM) for Sensex.

Alchemist, I have no clue for your question. I have calculated in this way only. If I am wrong please ignore. May I know how & what to be done when stock splits? Thanks.
