Hi All,

I was searching for the books in public sites and got hold of 5 of them.

I was thinking of creating a repository so that we can all access, read and discuss from the books.

What are your opinion regarding this ?

If we all can chip in ( a bit of googling will do) we can have a first class library to refer to.

I finished reading "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham.

It's a good book for a beginner in the markets, but I didn't find anything new in this book.

However, I won't blame Graham for it.

The book was written at a time when there were hardly any good books on investing and stock markets.

Today, Graham's books have been read by a large section of investors (who like to read) and his ideas "borrowed" by many authors.

The fact that I didn't find anything new in "The Intelligent Investor" isn't because Graham's ideas lack originality, but because his ideas have been talked and written about almost everywhere.

I bought two more books this month and have added them to the above list:

The Scam.
Financial Shenanigans.

Also, I have added books by ICFAI to the list. I had bought those books long back, but hadn't mentioned them in the original list.

Since you bought books related to financial manipulation, you should also get hold of "No One Would Listen".

It is by the person who tried to blow the lid off the Madoff's scam for over a decade, before Madoff finally turned himself in.

Even though the book gets a bit tiring and repetitive, it showcases the absolute incompetence of the financial regulator concerned (SEC).

I wonder how capable are the guys at SEBI in protecting our interests.

I just like to read.

All are hard copies.

I work on my desktop for 12-15 hours a day and so I prefer to read real books and not e-books. .

I would recommend a book called 'Strategic Stock Trading' by Michael Swanson. It's a brilliant little book on stock trading with great pearls of wisdom. Since it was published in the year 2010, it may not be readily available in India.

Oh yes, I checked and its now available online at infibeam.com and also flipkart.com

Just wanted to share something amazing; when this book wasn't available in India, I wrote to the author, Mr. Swanson. And would you believe it, he sent me the book free of cost! The guy seems quite genuine. For his newsletter, you would visit his website wallstreetwindow.com

Alchemist , amongst the list of books you have in Fundamental Analysis - which one have you found the most useful?

How did you find Security Analysis by Benjamin Graham?

I still haven't read "Security Analysis" fully and so won't compare it with the other books.

If you know want to learn the basics of financial statement analysis, I think the best one is:
Financial Statement Analysis & Security Valuation
by Stephen Penman.

Almost completed reading Ben Graham's "The Intelligent Investor", 2 chapters yet to go.

An excellent book for investors - especially for beginning investors like me. Probably useful for seasoned and experienced investors as well. All chapters are informative, however the chapter I liked the most was Ch 20 - "Margin of safety as the central concept of investment".

I think one thing that people usually forget is a book on Economics. Economics is very intricately related to the stock market and forms the absolute basics. I would personally recommend the book by Mankiw.

Flipkart.com: Principles Of Economics: N. Gregory Mankiw (9780324589979)

Rally awesome and helps to understand stuff from the basics.

I have added two more general books to my list:

The Wealth Of Nations - Adam Smith.
The Offshore Money Book - Arnold Cornez.

(These two are not related to stock markets).

I got mine too, it is nice one.! I like the countries and overview it is covering. Apart from investing community it is also a good general read to know, how all countries are doing over all!
