Default Vaswani Industries IPO (Listing Halted by SEBI)

Vaswani Industries IPO was subscribed around 4 times. The retail category was subscribed around 7 times.

However a large number of applications were withdrawn after the IPO closed.

Retail investors got 75% allotment, panicked and complained to SEBI.

SEBI is now investigating what led to such a large number of withdrawals.

To be honest, I have no sympathy for such investors.

In the past, I have booked losses in IPOs like Indiabulls Power. I don't blame anyone for that except myself.

Investors should understand the risks of applying for over-valued or junk IPOs.

Although some investors alleged wrongdoing in the issue, analysts have a different take. "In all probability, these investors were in the issue only for listing gains. But once they saw much higher allotment than expected, which wiped out the gray market premium, they went to Sebi," said Arun Kejriwal, director, KRIS, an investment research and advisory.
