I got a look at the report on the net, but I'm not convinced. As it points out, the company is foraying into areas which are new to it and which have existing players. These areas are also facing the slowdown effects now.

Mercator shall stay on the watch-but-not-buy list for now.

I have been busy lately so was not able to reply....

It is more important to look at Baltic dry index. The index is still sinking and below 900 after 10 years!

Until this index recovers, there is no demand for shipping in world and all these companies won't do better quarters for at least 6 months.

I think you already have GE Shipping and I also picked up 50 shares at 180....

We have discussed earlier also that GE Shipping is better than all other ....

Also you would go overboard in portfolio if you pick Mercator also with GE Shipping...

Rest your choice man....nobody can have everything!....make your choices......

P.S: Those reports are for reading.....most of time they are useless not for implementing!...

ICICI also didn't recommend to sell everything in Jan 2008, now we all sitting on 50% loss, so do your own research !

Thanks, man4 .

Aren't you tempted to sell GE Shipping seeing that you are currently in profit?

In today's market, I grab profit whenever I can! My acquisition price of GE Shipping is 230.

On the other hand, there's this:

Some people automatically sell the winners - stocks that go up, and hold on to their losers - stocks that go down, which is about as sensible as pulling out the flowers and watering the weeds.

Ha ha!

I am planning to hold my profitable stocks till nifty reaches 3600 and sensex 14000!

I have a feeling we are going up from here! I know if might sound moron after today's fall, but there is a possibility on chart that we have inverse Head & shoulder's pattern on Nifty and if we have that confirmed in coming days we will sky rocket soon to 3600....

Otherwise I will hold GE Shipping in portfolio as priceless Gem!

I don't think one can go wrong in holding on to GE Shipping. Importantly, you got it at a bargain price which is half the battle won .

I have question re: Mercator lines. Yesterday it has closed in green near 60 with a very large volume. Seems like it is ready for an up-burst- as it was in the heyday of bull market. Can it go up to 80 levels next month?

A 4% single-day move doesn't really mean much.

Mercator Lines had made a similar move on 26th August, but it didn't go anywhere.

Nevertheless, the stock looks as if it is consolidation and may breakout sooner or later.

(The breakout can be on the downside too).

Also, other shipping stocks like G.E.Shipping and Essar Shipping had shown good moves on Friday.

If someone wants to take a long position, he should keep a stop-loss just below the 200 EMA (red ribbon).

The 200 EMA is at 52.5 currently.

If my count is correct, we are in wave 2 of decline and maybe a downside breakout is still there.

I would like to see Triangle resolved for direction

I think today mercator lines has signaled a breakout by closing above 64.4 levels with great volume. It is poised for 80-90 levels i think.

Am i right, Alchemist?

It is a breakout.

G.E. Shipping also made a similar move yesterday and I would prefer G.E. Shipping over Mercator Lines (for fundamental reasons).

I have this stock in my 2 different portfolios.

First one i bought at 44 levels 50 shares and have seen upto 72 levels but i was expecting more so still holding. Not worried as investment wasnt much .Also planning to average now as the stock has got very bad result this quarter though positive profit.

In another portfolio another 50 shares got allotted at 29.Planning to hold this for long .And might more upto 200-500 shares if values get more attractive.

I wanted to know in recession does shipping too gets hit badly or what?

I even see SCI at attractive level and in long run its dividend yield is good too almost 5-6 % from present price.Or should i avoid this sector now.

Name of company changed to Mercator Limited.

And now this stock is trading at low levels of 17 with no respite.

Anyone planning to enter or expect it to go further down?
