I checked Unitech's FY 2011 annual report.

As per the annual report, Unitech's exposure to Uninor isn't much.

Unitech has Rs 34.5 crore worth of equity shares of Unitech Wireless (Tamil Nadu), which is now known as Uninor.

Unitech has exposure to some other companies with similar names, but I am not sure what these companies do or what their financial positions are.

Some investments done by Unitech in group companies:

- Rs 5 lac worth of shares of Unitech Wireless Limited.

- Rs 45.54 crore of debentures of Acorus Unitech Wireless.

- Rs 23.46 crore of debentures of Cestos Unitech Wireless.

On paper, it seems Unitech has limited exposure to Uninor.

However, one can't take financial statements of such scam-tainted companies at face value.

Unitech has recovered all its losses of last week.

Actually, it is now trading above last week's high.

All experts stating that the 3G move is right direction for the company. Because finally they will exit their non-core business and focus on core business real estate.

But I did not got the logic of same. May be they try to mean Unitech wants to exit but Telenor is stopping them with some clause. And now since they have been shot of foot, Telenor won't continue. And some cash used for this business will be free which Unitech will use for their core business. But I disagree because that would just help in reduce loan book to very small extent I guess since I don't have those figures.

You are right.

Unitech never invested big money in Uninor.

Unitech just got the license and sold the controlling stake to Telenor.

Whatever assets have been created by Uninor have been created from either Telenor's money or debt.

Uninor has been under Telenor's full control for a long time.

Even before Supreme Court's judgement, Unitech was a minority, non-controlling investor in Uninor and had all the time to focus on its core business.
