Default Data Discrepancy Between Different Sites

Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but couldn't find anything better.

When you lookup current data for a company at different financial websites, sometimes the figures are vastly different.

For eg - S Kumars Nationwide

Money Control quotes it's book value as around Rs. 40.

http://www.moneycontrol.com/india/st...nationwide/SKN

Edelweiss quotes it's book value as around Rs. 88.

http://www.edelweiss.in/company/S.Ku...nwide-Ltd.html

ICICI shows it as Rs. 37.

http://content.icicidirect.com/Resea...icicode=SKUMAR

How do we figure out what's the right value?

I am looking for some website (free or moderately priced) which can give me accurate data & also has a good screener.

Most screeners are useless - they allow you to play around with a very limited set of parameters.

Its better to go to the NSE site and calculate it yourself, some of the sites are lazy in updating the data.

How does one calculate the book value?

Reserves and surplus divided by number of shares = book value.

Edelweiss' book value figure is higher because it is the consolidated book value.

One needs the balance sheet to calculate the book value.

Are balance sheet details available on the NSE?

I downloaded the annual report for S. Kumars Nationwide.

As per the annual report, networth of the company at the end of FY 2009 was 912.6095 crore.

Number of equity shares outstanding at the end of the year = 22,33,91,438 (NSE figure).

That is 22.34 crore shares.

Dividing the networth by number of shares outstanding gives a figure of nearly 41.

However, S Kumars has a complex equity structure.

It has outstanding warrants, preference shares and stock options.

I will have to look at the details before I can tell how ICICI and Moneycontrol have arrived at the book value figure of 36.50.

I have observed that some websites report standalone data (IIFL) and some report consolidated. So, this can be a source of discrepancy.
