Once smart order routing is implemented at all levels (including your broker), you may not have to specify the exchange! At least that's what I understand.

How this works exactly and what will happen to squaring off intraday orders will be of interest.

Well this is one of the first stocks i have bought along with reliance power in the year 2008.

Now i had purchased 10 stocks of the share at 508.5 rate (total purchase 5085 value). At that time I decided ill come out of this share at double the profit - around 1190 etc.

I saw some opportunity and exited during the bloodbath of 5 (half) stocks at 1010 level (almost 80-90% return) as all other my stock were getting hammered and thought its better to book profit if it never reaches again to those levels.

Now i decided that i'll only exit the remaining stocks when i need money in life (say after 20-25 years) or say i see the money be 200% (money to be compounded in shares rather than fixed deposit).

Today i saw the share touching my 200% target (1550 level).

Now i am confuse whether i should exit the stock or not.

I don't need the money. But want my money to quadruple further as it happened here .I don't feel in future i'll get more return from this stock. So planning or thinking to exchange the stock with reliance with 5 years horizon. As i know i'll see 3000 rate in reliance in 2013-2015 when oil again trades around 120 dollar per barrel. And as all analyst say if you want to buy a stock and forget invest in reliance.

So should i exit the stock and take position in reliance. Need your comments guys if you were at my place.

Hi guys,

Reliance has come up with a new fund which will invest in small caps. It's a new fund offering. I have mixed views on this.

Reliance as a AMC is having many great funds like Reliance Vision, Reliance Growth and recently in the last 3 years Reliance Regular Fund Savings has become a star. The scheme proposes to invest at least 65 per cent of the corpus in equity and equity-related instruments of small cap companies, which may go up to 100 per cent of the corpus.

Minimum investment is 5000.

The way market is acting crazy in these days, small caps have become more risky then they usually are. So investing in a small cap fund in such a scenario is like taking a lot of risk.

This fund has a great plus point which no one can ignore. This fund will be managed by Sunil Singhania - man who managed Rel Vision and Growth.

I am thinking to invest a small amount say like 7k or 10k.:hmmmm: What do you all suggest? Any pointers?

Thanks!
Sometimes, it so happens that, some of the shares purchased by the investor before a few days are sold out(closed out) by the stock exchange, in that case, is the principle of FIFO (First-In-First-Out) still applicable or shall the investor need to take the date of purchase of the shares and the date of selling by the stock exchange (as the purchase and sell quantity is same)?

I want to know forum member's opinion on what is more desirable: having a high or low proportion of Basic in the CTC Salary.

My thinking was that high basic is desirable for the following reasons:

- 12% Employers contribution is tax free.
- Part of 12% Employees contribution is tax free within 80C limits.
- After 5 years of service all proceeds can be withdrawn tax free.

This stock looks tempting at current CMP ~70. :canabis:.
The management looks clean as well.
Alchemist, what do you think will be the effect of de-merger of the cement and ferro business on this stock?

Consider this: a newspaper carries a lot of advertisements issued by a certain company which is listed on the stock exchanges. However, the company has not paid the newspaper for the ads. Instead, it has signed a "private treaty" which, loosely speaking, is an ads for shares deal. The problem then arises of the newspaper having a vested interest in the company, whose shares it now has, doing well. To promote this vested interest, there is the possibility that the newspaper may slant news.

Obviously, this type of deal, in vogue for some years, is not restricted to newspapers but extends to media, in general.

SEBI now has issued a statement in this regard.

Article

I should mention that in the case of at least one major media group, the "private treaties" are (or were) in the public domain.

Subject:- Forced Migration from one policy(no.:- 01335971) Client ID 52107562, KOTAK SMART Advantage (107L043V01) to another policy(no.:- 02075352), Client ID 53972055, KOTAK Super Advantage (UIN-107L058V01) by KOTAK LIFE Insurance on FORGED SIGNATURES.
Dear Learned Friends, I need you help & guidance on following:-

1. I had a policy no.:- policy (no.:- 01335971) Client ID 52107562, KOTAK SMART Advantage (107L043V01) dated 04/10/2008 against an annual sum of Rs.36,000.00 with due date of October of every year. I had paid up two installments i.e. a sum of Rs.72,000.00.

2. In July,2010, I got a reminder telephone call from a support staff of KOTAK LIFE INSURANCE explaining me the scheme that since the ban on ULIP is now lifted by the Govt. of India. So, KOTAK LIFE INSURANCE has a scheme that if you make a pre-payment of the due installment of Rs.36,000.00 in month of July,2010 against the due date of October,2010 then I shall be entitled for an assured sum of Rs.1,50,000.00 in January,2011. (i.e. Rs.72000 paid up to Oct.2009 + Rs.36000 paid in July,2010 = Rs.1,08,000.00).

3. They sent a messenger at my residence to collect the payment which I paid vide cheque no.:-822546 dated:-28/07/2010 Amounting to Rs.36,000.00 drawn on HDFC Bank xxxxxxx Delhi in favour of KOTAK LIFE INSURANCE Policy No.:- 01335971. On 06.08.2010, I received a policy no.:- 02075352, Client ID 53972055, KOTAK Super Advantage (UIN-107L058V01) dated :- 02/08/2010.

After going through the policy I found that it was issued on my forged signatures. I had never made any request for such migration/ issuance.

After going through the new policy I observed that the last few pages of the policy contain the scanned image of 8 nos page of form no.:- KP 02075352 which reflects my forged signatures invariably on all pages.

I want to sue the KOTAK Life Insurance under section 420 of Indian Penal Code & compensation, please guide where to approach & how?

Please help me your guidance is valuable to me.

I hold an account with ICICIDirect. The trading acct & demat acct is single, but the linked ICICI Bank account is joint.

I wish to make the trading & demat acct also joint along with my wife.

The ICICIDirect person says that this isn't possible.
I will have to close the trading & demat account & open a new joint one.

Another thing I was told is that if the account is joint, I cannot buy Mutual funds online.
I need to submit a form letter to ICICIDirect to be sent to SEBI for getting permission to buy mutual funds online in a joint acct.

Anyone know any other way out of this?

What I basically want to do is avoid any problems in case of death.

For mutual funds, current I submit applications to ICICIDirect to put my wife as a nominee.
But this has to be done each time I buy fund from a new fund house, so it's a pain.

But stocks don't even have a nominee concept, so in case of death, it would be a huge problem.
