Default News That Affect Stock Prices

Every few days I buy something and then some news comes in and the prices fall. Some time back, low industrial production figures made the market fall. Recently, DLF fell because RBI announced new laws related to the real estate sector. Today they fell because the Korean markets fell (I'm not able to understand how it affects each and every stock in India, from those making shoes to tyres).

So how do you people get such news? Or do you people also get affected?

Today I bought PFC at 370 hoping to get a 5 rupee profit on it, and HMT at 77 on my broker's recommendation (buy at 78, target 85 over the next ten days, stop loss 73), but then everything fell and PFC hit a low of 361 and closed at 362.40 and HMT hit a low of 73.55 and closed at 74.00. I had to take delivery as the loss would have destroyed my profit.

By the way, was this dip because of Korean news only for today or will it be the same tomorrow as well?

I have been going through the same kind of experience depending on various sources and buying stock. Experience has been bad. I then attended a small course on technical analysis at BSE. I realized that instead of burning money it will be better to stop trading for sometime and spend the time in learning technical analysis. Good software is a good investment. You can do mock trading and see the result. If satisfied you can go for real trading.

Stock trading is risky and unfavorable news is one of the risks that accompanies trading.

Stock prices are a function of sentiment.

Korean conflict may not have direct impact on other countries, but it has dampened investor sentiment, especially in the US.

If international investors become cautious about their investments, stock prices may go down further.
