Default Doubt - Day Trading

I operate SBICAPSEC. If I have done Short Sale in Day Trading; But If the market goes up i want to convert to delivery before end of the day. Is it possible to convert the open sell position into delivery? I mean all open positions in Day Trading can be converted into Delivery in Cash Segment irrespective of whether 'Buy' or 'Sell'? ( Note: I have no shares in my DP to give a delivery.) That is whether 'Sell' open position can be converted to 'Buy' delivery.

If you short sell shares and you dont have them in your Demat, then you need to buy the shares same day. Or otherwise arrange the shares from some friend within 2 days.

In case you did not buy the shares and not able to arrange for it, then exchange will buy on your behalf(normally the exchange buy price is more than market price).

to my knowledge...........

if u left alone the order to expire at the end of day then the exchange will square it off at some price.

u can't convert short sold shares to delivery.

if exchange cant square it off then u have to face auction.

generally select only liquid shares to gamble/intraday trades.

The exchanges never square-off any positions.

Only certain brokers square-off intraday positions

Brokers like Kotak Securities don't even square-off intraday positions.

If the short-seller doesn't have shares in his demat account, he should square-off his short position.

If the short-seller can't deliver the shares, he has to face an auction and this usually leads to a loss.
