Talking Day Trading - Trying Something New

I have tried to do something new today....."basket selling".

I have shorted 13 stocks that were looking ripe for correction today...

The quantities are small because I have no experience with this type of gambling......

I will not use any target or stop-loss for these trades.

I will simply square-off all positions are the end of the day.

Any guesses what will happen to my positions....

As it is I haven't understood your formation.

How can you do this?

If you are shorting 13 Scripts and with today lot sizes on exchange the position should be worth 1 crore?

I think you are over-trading!

Instead of making such a complex formation you could have simply played with NIFTY!

What will happen If I sold some shares in intraday trading by choosing option 'intraday' and not bought in the same day.

I have those shares in my collateral account.

most brokers would square-off the position at the end of the day.

Indiabulls would for sure.

Depends on your broker.

I think if it is a margin transaction, the broker can start squaring off anytime after the time specified in advance. For many brokers, it is 3.00 pm. You will have to check with Karvy.

The latter posts/replies to this message haven't cleared the doubt -
1.whether the stock held in collateral account shall be actually sold off at the prevailing market rates at the time of short-selling, and later bought back at the prevailing market rate at the time for auto-square-off.
2.or the stocks in collateral account would stay intact and only the profit/loss accruing from the trade shall be credited/debited to my account.
3.One of the posts, that I read here, also mentioned this as a medium to average the stock-price by successful short-selling.Does this mean what actually occurs is that at S.No.1 above.

Stocks have to be delivered on T+2 day.

All the trades, that you do in a day, are netted together and the the credit/debit is done for this net amount.

Point 2 is correct.

(Trade-to-trade stocks are exceptions and there is no netting done in this segment).
